Project: Story Telling through Animation or a Game
Programs Students will learn for the project:
- Maya
- Motion Builder
- After Effects (AE)
- Photoshop
1Y Students:
1Y Students will get a general understanding of modeling, rigging, and animation. Students will create their own character and story. This character will be used throughout the year for each project. The animations will be at least 10 seconds long and driven by dialogue, and good visuals.

2Y Students:
Students will be allowed to explore more into the area of animation or game development during this project’s timeline. 2Y Students overall goal is to create a narrative. Students can choose one of the following:
Students must write 2 blog entries a week that is focused on the development and the story of their project. Students must also create a 2 tutorials based on their narratives. Students can work individually or in groups. If students work in groups each member must do their own blog posting and tutorial. 2Y students are allowed to work the same projects as 1Y students if they opt out of these options.
Students will be allowed to explore more into the area of animation or game development during this project’s timeline. 2Y Students overall goal is to create a narrative. Students can choose one of the following:
- Animation
- Create a short Animation: Design the character/object that is at least 10 minutes in length, tells a story, has some dialogue, narration or music (no pop music), and has good visuals.
- Game Development
- Create a game with 10 levels. Each level needs a Cinematic (animation, this means 10 animations). There must be a goal the character/object is trying to obtain.
